Wings of Hope
Wings of Hope is a tutoring program offered to individuals who participate in our Equine One on One Program. These individuals have been identified as having a need for supplemental learning. Students with learning disabilities often have a higher level of emotional concerns such as depression, the feeling of loneliness, and low self-esteem. Their difficulties go beyond math, reading, organization and memory. When they experience constant struggles and failures, they may develop a negativity about themself. Strong feelings of frustration, anger, sadness and shame can lead to anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and depression. Oftentimes they are bullied at school or act out, which adds another layer of trauma.
With this program the need of each student is individualized, where and why are they falling behind in any particular area. Once the need is identified, steps are taken to help with that issue allowing the individual to become a more successful student. By using nature as part of the curriculum, it can help a student be more attentive and engaged, feel less stressed, and learn self-discipline.
Providing a resource for these students along with the emotional support with the Equine One on One Program, is a wonderful opportunity for them to become strong, emotionally healthy adults.
